Bergsteiger? Why Bergsteiger?
A tribute by the Innerkofler family, the fourth generation of which now runs the Dolomitenhof (established 1905) to its founder, Sepp. To the “Bergsteiger” (or mountaineer), as he was respectfully known down in the valley during his life. His outstanding mountaineering achievements, coupled with vision and a pioneering spirit, were essential to the economic development of Sesto from a poor mountain farming village to a flourishing tourist destination. His tragic death in the service of his homeland at the start of World War has become history.
What is served?:
in the morning an aperitif with an impressive view, at lunch bistro dishes from South Tyrolean cuisine, in the afternoon a strengthening mountaineer's platter, snacks and homemade Pustertal desserts. And always:
The best of the simple: The culinary heritage of the Alps:
A "poor man's" cuisine, rich in the flavors of the nature that surrounds us. Born out of pure necessity and a tradition that has grown out of it. Use of local and therefore seasonal basic products according to the motto: 0 km, meat and sausages from Sexten stocks, cheese and dairy products from local producers, not least wild vegetables and from our organic meadows or forests. Plus potatoes, beetroot, turnips, cabbage and grain from the Pustertal.
Healthy products from our valley, which we prepare fresh and carefully with many rediscovered ingredients from the past, without artificial flavor enhancers. Seasoned with herbs and berries from our gardens, meadows and forests, fresh in summer, preserved for the winter.
Taste the flavors of the Dolomites.
